An approximation, not Google's real layout. Google sets no fixed length for titles or descriptions and cuts them to fit the screen, and it sometimes rewrites them. The pixel widths are a rough desktop guide.

  • The description will probably be cut off. Keep the key point in the first sentence.

Google sets no fixed character limit

Google's documentation says there is no limit on how long a meta description can be, but the snippet is truncated as needed, typically to fit the device width. Titles work the same way: Google shortens a title link that doesn't fit. That is why this tool measures width rather than counting characters against a hard rule.

The width guide here is a rough desktop figure, not a number Google publishes. Treat it as a warning light: if a line runs past it, put the words that matter most at the start.

Google may not use your text

Google writes title links and snippets from several sources. It sometimes uses your meta description when that describes the page better than text taken from the page itself, and it can rewrite a title that is vague, repeated across many pages or stuffed with keywords.

  • Give every page its own title and description. Apps built with AI tools often ship one title for every route.
  • Put the real title and description in the HTML the server sends, not only through JavaScript, so every crawler sees them.
  • Describe what the page offers in plain words. A short, specific description is more likely to be used than a list of keywords.

Check the whole site, not one page

This preview checks text you type. A VibeSecurity scan reads the titles and descriptions your live site actually serves, flags template defaults such as "Lovable Generated Project", duplicate titles and tags that only appear after JavaScript runs, and gives each one a fix.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a meta description be?

There is no official limit. Google truncates snippets to fit the screen, so keep the key point in the first sentence and aim for a description that reads well even if the end is cut off.

Why does Google show a different title from my title tag?

Google generates title links automatically and can use other text on the page, such as the main heading, when it decides that describes the page better. Clear, unique, descriptive titles are the most likely to be shown as written.

Is this exactly what Google will show?

No. It is an approximation of a desktop result. Real results vary by device, query and Google's own changes, and can include extra elements such as dates, images or site links.

Does the text I type leave my browser?

No. The preview and measurements run entirely in your browser.
